Welcome to the Emergence Site, home to the world's first scientific exploration into the nature of "aha's." And change in general. Why aha's? Because aha's herald real lasting changes in human nature, whereas will powered, logic based efforts never last. On our site, we believe that to settle for less is pointless. Why settle for scientific results which fail to translate to the real world? Why settle for a life which is less than you deserve?
Why hasn't science explored aha's before? Because like everything else about human nature, aha's are messy, round, squishy, and confusing. Traditional sciences tend to steer clear of things which are messy, round, squishy, and confusing. Or at best, they reduce this beautiful messy roundness into square dry holes filled with statistics and logical reductions, killing off our humanity in the process along with any chance to change.
In truth, only fractal sciences can describe our messy humanity, including things like how we get injured and how we heal. But because traditional sciences pooh pooh anything they can't account for neatly, they avoid aha's like the plague. And tend to crucify people who even try to explore them.
Because of this, we've had to settle for totally inadequate explanations for things like addictions, relationship problems, spiritual troubles, and learning disabilities. In truth, these things can never be described with neat orderly logic or numbers. Chaos theory, however, with it's emergences and scalar messiness, describes these things really well. How well? Well enough to be able to clearly explain what's behind things like falling in love and failing to learn. And getting addicted and gaining weight.
What do we actually look at here? For one thing, we ask a lot of questions normal sciences avoid. Things like what actually renders us vulnerable to injury? And why doesn't understanding what happened to us heal us? A hint. Being startled is what injures us, not logic or reasons. Thus seeking psychological reasons which explain our injuries only leaves us more confused. And psychologically numb. What does heal us and how does being startled cause our injuries? You'll find these answers inside.
You'll also find lot of exciting new stuff about how the mind and body connect. The real science behind it. Including how a heretofore unknown aspect of this connection; our sense of time, is what makes us vulnerable to overeating. As well as to things like drug addiction, alcoholism, and ADHD. What difference does knowing this make? A big difference, since knowing how this happens can focus your recovery. You'll find this information inside as well.
Are you looking for hard science? Know you'll find that here as well. Albeit, not voiced as pop psychology nor as old school statistical nonsense. Rather, as I've said we talk fractally here. In fact, we trust nothing which cannot be voiced as a fractal, and we see fractility, not linear science, as the only Real Test for Truth. Personality theories to personal preferences. Human consciousness to personal aloneness.
What is our science like? To us, something is either true or it's not. One hundred percent true. Traditional science acts as if things can be partially true which to us is akin to saying someone can be partially pregnant. Enough guessing, we say. How about some answers that feel true to the gut as well as to the mind.
How do we find answers? We have three perspectives from which we look. The first we call The Emergence Formulas for Consciousness, an amazing little piece of algebra which maps what occurs on the screen of the human mind into three dimensional space. Second we have Emergence Personality Theory, the world's first fractal personality theory. And third, we have Emergence Therapy, the first talk therapy to be able to purposely alter the nature of who we are. Permanently. And without blaming anyone.
From where have these three perspectives come? From ingredients which have existed for thousands of years. People have been talking about aha's for a long time now. We prefer the word emergence because it's a scientific way to refer to these experiences. Moreover, while it's true nothing is new under the sun, in a very real way, we could call ourselves world class chefs who using already known ingredients to invent new recipes for loving each other.
Speaking of love, along the way, we've also unearthed some new ideas as to my personal purpose in all this; discovering what makes children lose their love of learning. As well ways to reawaken this love of learning, in children, in ourselves, in everyone. Here, we ask questions like what makes memorizing painful? Can children who hate math learn to love it? And how do you know your child has been matched to the right teacher?
Of course, we also know, all too well, that a theory is only as true as it's usefulness. Thus we've also created a whole series of personality tests, and these tests are several magnitudes more predictive and accurate than those of one of my heroes; Carl Jung, We call these tests, the Emergence Social Priority Charts, and not only will they help you to know yourself better, it's just possible, they may heal things in you just by taking them.
Here, our hope is that these tests may someday be used, not only to better match people to their careers, but also to better match children to their teachers. And lonely hearts to other lonely hearts.
In addition, you'll also a few introductory stories from our soon to be released foray into the business world; the Bernie Book. Here we focus on how being conscious affects peoples' ability to manage money. Especially in and around their awareness of after age seven time. Not sure what after-seven time is? You'll find this idea inside as well. Impulse buyers beware.
What you won't find here, of course, is blame. Why not? Because nothing ruins peoples' chances to heal and grow more than blame itself. Thus while we do pose a whole lot of provocative questions, we do not blame people for their wrongs. And yes. We do see people as responsible for these wrongs. We just don't see how blaming them makes the world any better.
Is this your first visit? Then you might find it helpful to read the "What is Emergence?" articles. Especially the Emergence Glossary. We do tend to look at things a bit differently here. Or perhaps, you'd prefer to just jump in and poke around. Please feel free to do either, and to go wherever your heart leads you.
Know also that most people, on their first visit, feel very overwhelmed. Too many topics. Too many long articles. And way too much to learn in anything like a brief visit.
The thing is, if you treat our site like a big thick encyclopedia of secrets and mysteries (and if you honor yourself and go only at your heart's own pace), then in time, we're sure you'll see beauty in some things you thought had no beauty in them whatsoever. Including in the people you dislike the most.
Finally, for whom have we written all this? Mainly, for the child in all of us. The part of us that so wants answers but doesn't want to hurt anyone in the process. Thus whether you be therapist, teacher, aspiring healer, or wounded soul, if you are looking for compassion, we have a lot to show you.
Our overall hope here, of course, is that what we've posted on this site may in some way inspire you to seek your own way to make the world a better place. Especially for children. As well as to help you to rediscover the awe and wonder we all once felt each and every morning. As we sought to find the most wonderful treasure of all; the the beauty hidden within each and every being in our world.
May these beautiful feelings emerge in you too.
