Seeing the Beauty in Managing Our Bodies

If someone were to ask you, "how much do you weigh?," how would you feel? If you answer, "uncomfortable," you are in the majority. Most of us struggle in and around how much we weight, some of us to the point of shame and despair.

How about if you were to be asked, "Do you eat healthy?" Would hearing this question make you feel discomfort too?

Again, if your answer is "yes," then you are pretty normal and once more, in the majority of human beings.

What about if someone were to ask you, "are you fit?" Would this question make you feel bad too?

Here again, if hearing this question, or one like it, would make you feel uncomfortable, you too are in the majority of human beings.

So what makes us so uncomfortable about our weight, food, and fitness? Is it just that we are all too weak to do the right thing? Or too gluttonous to give up what we know is bad for us? Or too lazy and complacent to do what we know we should do?

In truth, it is none of these things, and in fact, no one should be even saying these things to us. They only make us feel bad. And eat more. Further, despite all the good advice we constantly hear, even the latest, greatest advice has to be missing something. Why? Because despite the fact that most of us put in incredible efforts into controlling our eating and lowering our weight, most of us are still overweight and unfit.

So what has been missing?

The true nature of weight gain and loss.

And what is the true nature of weight gain and loss?

In this part of the emergence site, we explore this question: how we gain and lose weight. We also look at look at how, by lumping such a complex topic into such a narrow category, we shame ourselves into becoming even more overweight and more unfit. More important still, we also look at some more-loving ways to begin to heal what has been BLocking our abilities to love managing our weight and fitness.
